Central bank week: how do you handle the Fed and BoC meetings?

The Bank of Canada and the Federal Reserve both meet next week (the Fed on October 27 to 28), and UK inflation just printed above forecast at 3.5%. Event weeks like this raise a practical question: what is your routine?

Some prompts to get the discussion going:

1. Do you trade through central bank decisions, stand aside until the press conference is over, or reduce size? Why?
2. How do you check what the market already expects before a release, so you can judge whether the outcome is a surprise?
3. Have you ever been stopped out by a spike that reversed within minutes? What did you change afterward?
4. Do you read the full statement and compare it with the last one, or rely on headlines?

There is no right answer, and nothing here is a recommendation. The aim is to compare how people plan for volatile days. If you share a routine, mention your timeframe and typical holding period so others can judge how it fits.
