Technical vs Fundamental Analysis in Forex: Using Both

24hrfx Desk · Jul 4, 2026

Fundamental analysis looks at macro drivers: interest rate differentials, inflation, employment data, trade balances, and geopolitical risk. It tends to explain the direction of multi-week or multi-month trends.

Technical analysis looks at price action itself: support and resistance, trend structure, and momentum indicators. It tends to be more useful for timing entries and exits within a trend that fundamentals have already established.

A common workflow: use the economic calendar and news flow to decide which pairs have a directional bias over the coming days or weeks, then use the chart to time entries around key levels and avoid trading directly into high-impact data releases.
