The euro was flat at $1.1185 on Friday, 30 October, after dipping on Thursday to its lowest level since May 2025, according to Reuters reporting. It is on track for a monthly drop of about 1.2%.

The dollar index stood at 101.77, a shade softer on the day but still set for a 0.3% gain in October, its second consecutive monthly rise. The ECB left rates unchanged this week, as did the Fed.

Elsewhere, sterling edged up 0.1% to $1.3390 and is up about 1% on the month. The Australian dollar was little changed at $0.7030, up 1.2% for October, while the New Zealand dollar was slightly weaker at $0.5626 and flat on the month.

The month-end calendar can add noise: portfolio rebalancing and fixing flows sometimes move pairs without any news. If you trade EUR/USD, treat month-end and the weekend gap risk as part of your plan, see weekend gaps explained.
